Who, in their right mind, will pursue something as intangible as that of becoming a recording artist? I ask that with absolute respect. Why? Well, only someone with commitment, confidence and gumption will pursue this course in life because there are no guarantees. In fact, most go through long periods of poverty, loneliness, isolation, feelings of being misunderstood, among other things, on their individual journeys to write that one song that might become a hit - although, this song wasn't written with that intent in mind. Noel was going through some severe realities at the time of writing Paperclips, Pennies and Dust. He was broke, outta smokes, and thinkin' life was a joke. At this point in his journey, all he had to his name - besides his guitar and the clothes on his back, was Paperclips, Pennies and Dust.
