ABOUT NOEL CAROL
Noel Carol is a BC-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, visual artist, and soon-to-be published author with over 50 years of musical experience. His journey began at age eight watching The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, sparking a lifelong commitment to music. Self-taught on guitar, Noel has crafted a distinctive compositional style described as being a "modern-day Mozart"—taking listeners on dynamic journeys through melodic key changes, unexpected modulations, and emotional landscapes that move from calm to chaos and back again.
After a performing hiatus since 2004, Noel is returning to the live music scene with intimate house concerts across Western Canada, promoting his songs, his forthcoming memoir, and his visual art.
Musical Influences: The Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel, Elton John, The Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin, The Alan Parsons Project, and Billy Joel, to name a few.
Notable Work: Producer of Straight from the Streets Live! at the Stone Angel (1998)—a compilation featuring 15 indie artists from Ottawa's street performance scene.

LEFT UNREAD - THE BOOK

What began as the story of a struggling songwriter was to become something far more dangerous: a prophetic warning that cost 30 years to deliver—one that might cost everything to believe.
In 1995, sensing inevitable homelessness, Noel began writing a 13-minute, 7-second song called "Drifting Lost at Sea." It took 2.5 years to finish—and 22 years to understand what he had written.
Some of the lyrics he planned to rewrite, not understanding why he'd written what he did, until he woke up one night with the discovery they weren't his to change. They were God's half of a conversation he'd been transcribing. The lyrics foreshadowed his life before he lived it.
In 2000, at the end of a 5-year self-imposed deadline to make it as a songwriter, Noel was ready to quit. Then he wrote "Left Unread"—the song that was to change his life forever. The moment he finished writing the chorus, the inspiration to write the book of the same title was revealed to him. The title was a given: LEFT UNREAD The Stories Behind the Songs of Noel Carol. Another 22 years were to elapse before he was to put pen to paper.
Noel's songs were blueprints to a life he hadn't yet lived. The book is proof that every word came true. And the pattern of 22 years—twice—wasn't an accident. Nor was it planned. It was prophecy being fulfilled.
The book reveals why success was delayed for decades—and what the songs were really preparing him for. It's a story of transformation, redemption, and a message—the very message he was given in his elusive dream in 1995. With each chapter, that obscurity slowly faded, enabling him to finally put an end to his lifetime of drifting lost at sea.
431 pages. 30 chapters. March 2026 release.
"I'm still broke. Still unknown. Still without success as the world defines it. But I finally succeeded on a different level: I sought first the Kingdom of God, trusting that everything else is to be provided according to His will. And in the end, the prophetic lyrics I wrote, saying, 'I'll not end up like some book on a shelf, left unread', have manifested. No, I simply wrote the book instead."
MEDIA & RECOGNITION
Noel has been sporadically featured on television, radio, and in local newspapers throughout his career. During his busking days, Ottawa artist Jeannine Robertson captured him in a painting, which later inspired Leon Papillon's charcoal drawing—both testaments to the lasting impression his street performances made on those who witnessed them.
