Left Unread
The writing of this song changed the trajectory of Noel's pursuit as a singer songwriter, written in 2000. The writing of this song inspired the book of the same title to be written. And here we are, 25 years later, all coming together as one.
My Maggie
My Maggie is definitely one of those songs that you just need to sit back and enjoy - from start to finish. Noel wrote this in 1997.
Drifting Lost at Sea
This 13-minute, 7-second epic of a song, took 2 1/2 years to write between May '95 and December '97.
Caught in the Crossfire
This is one of Noel's earlier compositions, penned in 1995 about an affair he'd had a few years earlier.
Wishin', Hopin', Prayin'
This particular song came about while Noel was in a more subdued mood than he'd been in for a long time. Life's problems were still present, but he was feeling a little more relaxed for a change. He wrote this song in 1995, too.
I Do
This song, written in 1997, was recorded Live! off the floor at the Stone Angel in Ottawa in 1998. The show hosted Noel and 14 other indie artists in a production called Straight From the Streets. You can also listen to and download all 15 songs from that production below.
Paperclips, Pennies and Dust
Have you ever been so desperately broke that you went on a rampage to find some spare change? This exact scenario is what inspired the story behind this song in 1996.
After Today
If you listen to enough of Noel's songs, you'll discover that he's had his share of hard times. The story behind this particular song, also written in '96, was inspired by the untimely death of Noel's second childhood friend, with Noel believing he was next in line to meet his fate.
Just for Fun
In 2000, things weren't going much better for Noel emotionally. There was this woman … Well, the song tells the whole story.
Since and for Eternity
A few years later, in 2004, Noel met a woman, with whom he believed he'd be spending the rest of eternity.
